Xray Imaging Delivers Precision Pain Relief
Also called fluoroscopy, this advanced form of imaging is a technique for obtaining "live" images of a patient. When using imaging, the physician places the patient on a table between an xray source and a fluorescent screen. Modern fluoroscopes employ an image intensifier and video camera to enable the physician to view the live images on a computer monitor. The advantages of real-time imaging and the freedom to freely position the imaging apparatus during examination makes fluoroscopy a very powerful tool for pain management. How is fluoroscopy performed? Fluoroscopy is commonly part of a procedure done on an outpatient basis. The specific type of procedure or examination being done will determine whether any preparation prior to the procedure is required. Your physician will notify you of any pre-procedure instructions.
